How to Maintain Food Safety and Hygiene

People who are doing food business should know they have to maintain food safety and hygiene on a daily basis. As it is a legal requirement of any type of food business. Yes' for this it is very important to have all the right appliances in your commercial kitchen. That will help you to provide perfect temperature to food items that will enable you to keep your food items safe, healthy and hygienic. Here in this article we are discussing about tips that you can implement while maintaining food safety and hygiene in any commercial kitchen:

1. The first thing that you have to do to keep your food items safe and hygiene is to set the temperature of your single door freezer commercial at 4 degrees Celsius. Keep in mind that by doing so you can prevent the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the food item that you are storing.


2. Another thing that you should know about food maintenance is that it will be better if you cool down the food a little bit at the room temperature before storing it in the refrigeration unit. Other than that, make sure that you store the food items within one hour. And never forget to set its temperature at 4 degrees Celsius.


3. So if you want to store the fish for longer time periods hence keeping it fresh then firstly you have to remove all its internal organs, including head, fins, scales and tail. After that you have to rinse it well by using cold water and then pat dry. If you are planning to store small fish, just like bluegills, crappie and perch, then you can simply store it whole, while on the other hand it you are storing big fishes then you have to cut them up in several small pieces. After that put them into the freezer.


4. Another thing that's recommended to keep the food items safe and hygiene is to use disposable paper towels and try to pack food items in it. But if you are using non disposable food items, then you should prefer to wash it frequently. Other than that, keep in mind that towels which you are using to clean working surfaces will get contaminated with bacteria. So it is very important that you wash them regularly after using it.


5. Other than that you should prefer to wash the meat cutting boards right after using it. Make sure that you rub and scrub the cutting board after using it as that will help you to keep it hygienic. For this purpose you can use the dishwashing soap and a brush. That will help you to properly clean it.


6. To maximize shelf life of food items you should prefer to check the daily operations of the unit. For this its better to check the temperature range of the refrigeration unit. Keep in mind that it is very important to analyse whether the appliance is providing a stable temperature or not. To check its use can also use refrigerator thermometer. Basically, you can buy these from departmental stores, supermarkets and also the hardware.
