5 Tips to Store Sea Food and Keep It Fresh

People who are planning to store the seafood in their home for longer time should know the accurate procedure. Keep in mind that if you will never store the sea food properly, then it might be disastrous for your appliance. So that’s why you should prefer to know about the correct procedure of storing food in both freezer and fridge. 1. First of all you should opt for the perfect packaging while buying the sea food and taking it home. It will be better to opt for accurate freezer bags so that it will remain safe and hygienic. Other than that if you have to sit in the warm car, then you must take some ice with you so that it will remain cool during travel.

2. After reaching home if you are planning to store the seafood for a longer time period. Then you must remove all its internal organs first including head, fins, scales and tail. After that you have to rinse it well by using cold water and then pat dry. If you are planning to store small fish, just like bluegills, crappie and perch, then you can simply store it whole, while on the other hand it you are storing big fishes then you have to cut them up in several small pieces. After that put them into the freezer.

3. Keep in mind that you have to opt for the disposable bags or air tight zippers for storing fish in the freezer. You just can’t store seafood directly under the exposure to frigid freezing temperatures. As that will become the reason of causing the dryness and freezer burn onto the seafood. Other than that, you must store the seafood in the middle or lowest possible shelf. So that you won’t have to face the issue of juice or sauce dipping that might become reason of having cross food contamination.

4. So if you are storing the seafood, then firstly you have to remove the scales after that clean it up by removing all the unwanted parts after that simply rinse it up with cold water. Then you have to place it right on a plate or in a tray or with a lidded container, and then simply cover it up by using a damp cloth and upon that you have to give the plastic wrap or place the lid.
