5 Tasks to Include in The Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance Schedule

Commercial refrigeration is an essential part of food businesses. You do not want to have refrigeration appliances that breakdown regularly and have a high running cost. Whether you have a walk-in refrigerator or commercial under counter fridges you need to invest in maintenance. Without a maintenance schedule, the appliances will not be energy efficient.

Here are a few tips that are effective in keeping the commercial refrigeration running and energy efficient.

Consistently Cleaning:

Keeping the refrigeration clean is essential for keeping the appliances in perfect working condition. If the interior or the exterior of the appliances is dirty it will have a negative impact on its performance. Once in a week or two, you should take out all the food products from the refrigerators and clean it thoroughly. Make sure that you have temporary storage where you can safely store the food products.

Always clean the refrigeration appliances with the help of a soft cloth and soft cleaning solutions. Using sharp equipment and harsh chemicals will damage the appliance. A mixture of water and vinegar is an excellent choice. Make sure that cleaning the appliances internally and externally is a part of the maintenance schedule.

Keeping the Condenser and Evaporator Coil Clean:

Cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils clean should be an important task of the maintenance schedule. If these coils are dusty and dirty then it will have a negative impact on the performance of refrigeration. Dirty condenser coils can increase the temperature of the refrigerators and lead to failure of other components.

You should avoid putting too many products in the refrigerators. Do not overflow it with products because it will block the airflow and the coil will freeze. To avoid such situation keep the evaporator coil clean.

Include Checking Gaskets in Maintenance Schedule:

The door gaskets of the refrigerators are responsible for maintaining the set temperature. The door seals do not allow the interior air to escape and the temperature will stay stable. The doors of commercial refrigeration are opened regularly and it can take a toll on the gaskets. If the gaskets are not in perfect condition then you will have to replace them. You should check the condition of the gaskets regularly so that you can spot cracks and splits. Cleaning the gaskets regularly is also effective in preventing damage.

Keep the Filters Clean:

The air filters are an important component of the commercial refrigeration. If the filters are full of dust and grease then you will compromise the efficiency of the appliance. The buildup of dust and dirt hurdles the ventilation and it can lead to equipment breakdown. Replacing the filters should a part of the maintenance schedule because the refrigeration cannot function without right filters.

Keep the Refrigerators Dry:

If refrigeration appliances have liquid on the surface or the shelving then you should dry it thoroughly. If there is too much moisture then it will freeze and there will ice buildup. The buildup will decrease efficiency. In walk-in refrigerators keeping the floor dry will prevent slipping accidents as well.
